How fire departments benefit from navigation systems

More and more fire departments want a navigation system. This is particularly practical for large operational areas and newly arrived drivers. When an alarm is triggered, Firetab not only shows the location of the event at a distance from the magazine as an immediate orientation aid. With one touch on the Firetab tablet, navigation to the event starts at the same time.

What almost everyone now uses privately is also increasingly in demand by fire departments: a professional navigation system. This enables the emergency vehicles to reach the object of operation by the most direct route and saves valuable time. In the following cases, the fire department particularly benefits from a navigation system:

  • Newcomers to the fire department: anyone who moves to a new town is naturally welcome to join the fire department. If the person was a driver in the fire department at his or her previous place of residence, it makes sense for him or her to take on this function in the new, as yet little-known operational area.

  • Base fire department: The operational area of a base fire department is large and often extends beyond the cantonal borders.

  • Regional fire departments: More and more fire departments are merging in order to exploit synergies. Regional fire departments are being formed and the operational areas are becoming larger.
